Nicky & James had a beautiful church & barn wedding towards the end of summer 2017. We started the morning at their house where Nicky and the girls were getting ready.  The morning had a fantastic atmosphere with excitement and nerves in the air but lots of laughter too.   Part way through the morning’s preparations I popped two minutes down the road to the village pub where the boys were all meeting up for a quick drink and to divide up the lasts few important tasks of the morning.

Rejoining the girls getting ready I arrived just before Nicky’s dad’s surprise wedding transport arrive; a stunning horse and carriage to take Nicky and her dad to the church and bring Nicky & James back to the house where they would then drive on in a lovely Aston Martin.

The church ceremony was beautiful and after there was planned some time outside for Nicky & James to be congratulated by their friends and family, but as we stepped outside we noticed a big black cloud coming over.  So instead we went straight into a confetti line so we didn’t get rained on. As the couple got into the horse and carriage it did start to rain so we timed it well.

The horse and carriage stopped off at a house in the village where we spent 10 or so minutes taking some stunning couples portraits in the beautiful grounds and then Nicky & James witched into the Aston Martin to drive to their reception.

This barn wedding was extra special as the reception was on James’ parent’s farm. The two dad’s had spent the last year renovating the barn from a working near the derelict barn to one of the nicest rustic barns I have photographed.  Nicky & James had decorated it and surrounding areas so it all looked stunning and a covered outside bar and seating area was a brilliant addition to the space, especially in the wet weather we had. The reception, like the rest of the day, was full of so much emotion and an awesome atmosphere, this carried into the evening as the dance floor filled up straight after the first dance.

This barn wedding was an absolutely brilliant day and I had a great time documenting it. With so many stunning DIY touched it was clear to see how much time nd effort had gone into Nicky & James’ big day.
