This was one of the first weddings back after Covid restrictions were lifted in the summer – and boy did it not disappoint! I had an awesome day with Megan, Laurence and their guests, documenting all the smiles, laughter and other emotions that filled the day. I started the morning with the girls where they were getting ready, just down the road from Upton Barns. There was a lot of nervous energy in the air but you could tell how excited Megan and her bridesmaids were.

The ceremony was held outdoors in Upton Barns Wall Garden; this is such a stunning setting for a wedding, made all the better with the perfect weather we had! It was a beautiful ceremony with some very personal and funny moments thrown in there too. After the ceremony the guests remained out in the sun for the drinks reception and to congratulate Megan and Laurence.

Before the wedding breakfast we made use of Upton Barns’ stunning grounds to take the group photos and then some couples portraits of Megan and Laurence whilst the guests were finding their seats. The speeches followed the wedding breakfast with three very heartfelt speeches from Laurence, Megan’s father, and the best man.

I love summer weddings for that chilled evening vibe we often get, as the sun is setting and the drinks are flowing: it is one of my favourite times of the day to shoot. I often find 5-10 minutes to whisk the couple away for a few more couples portraits in the gorgeous golden hour, then get back to capturing informal shots of the guests enjoying the evening before the cake cutting and first dance. This wedding was no different and we were blessed with some awesome light throughout the evening.

I had an amazing time documenting Megan and Laurence’s big day; it was a pleasure to spend the day with their friends and family, and to capture the stunning moments throughout the day.
