MAZ & LEE | THE OAK BARN | DEVON WEDDING

I love shooting weddings at Oak Barn. It’s such a brilliant venue and it has such amazing vibes in the summer! Maz and Lee had planned an awesome wedding day at The Oak Barn and I was really looking forward to documenting it for them. Both the bride and groom were getting ready at the venue, which meant I could swing between them both and get bride and groom preparation photos.

Maz and the girls were getting ready in the Linhay barn; this space is brilliant for bridal preparations, with plenty of space for everyone in the morning.

The boys were getting ready in the Acorn barn; but when I arrived, they were outside in just their shorts playing a bit of footy and table tennis.

The Oak Barn is a unique wedding venue as it has a church literally a stone’s throw from it. Just a 30 second walk around the corner and we were at Maz and Lee’s ceremony in this quaint little Devon church. The church is pretty small, and with all of the bride and groom’s family and friends inside, it was absolutely packed. This does make my job a little harder, but I love it when ceremonies are full of guests!

After the beautiful ceremony, Maz and Lee left through a shower of confetti and out onto the terrace where everyone enjoyed drinks and canapes in the summer sun. I love this space at The Oak Barn, especially in the summer. It is just perfect for having a drinks reception outside and relaxing with all the wedding guests. We made the most of the great weather and did all the group photos outside, followed by me taking the bride and groom off for some couples photos around the grounds.

The speeches and wedding breakfast were to follow in the day’s events and there were lots of laughs throughout the speeches, where even Lee’s mum got to say a few words to make him blush!

After the speeches it was back outside into the summer sun while the sun set, the evening guests arrived and the main barn room was turned around ready for the evening.

The evening kicked off with the cutting of the cake and then Maz and Lee’s beautiful first dance. Guests swiftly joined them on the dancefloor to dance the night away accompanied by the awesome Devon band Eventine.

This wedding couldn’t have felt anymore summery if they had tried. It was such a beautifully relaxed day. I loved being a part of this wedding day and it was such an honour to be asked to document it for Maz and Lee.
