HAYLEY & TOM | FARM WEDDING | DEVON WEDDING
Hayley and Tom’s farm wedding will be a wedding I remember for a long time: the biggest marquee I have ever seen, hundreds of guests, a helicopter, and getting myself lifted into the air by some kind of digger to take the whole group photo. With myself and my second photographer at this wedding we had the luxury of covering both the bride and groom preparations that were happening in two separate locations.
It is always nice to get both sides of the wedding morning story but it is not always possible with just one photographer. It also made the ceremony easier as it was a very, very full church, so myself and my second photographer could photograph two separate angles and not have to move around too much.
After the church it was time to head to the farm for the wedding reception. I went with Hayley and Tom to the top of the farm where they were getting into a helicopter for a flyby over the farm and a little trip around the beautiful South Devon scenery. My second shooter joined the guests at the marquee to document the drinks reception.
The afternoon reception was a beautiful, relaxed time with all the guests out enjoying the sun while having drinks and canapes. We did all of our formal group photos under a huge tree in the adjoining field, but for the whole group photos there were so many people that the groomsmen had me climb into a digger bucket to get some height for the photos. This was a little nerve-wracking for me but the guests seemed to enjoy it, shouting “higher higher” as I was lifted into the air.
The evening reception was beautiful. With the sunset pouring into the marquee it really added to the relaxed atmosphere of the day which was so prominent even with so many guests! As soon as the party really started with the first dance you could tell people were itching to get on the dancefloor and it was soon flooded with guests ready to dance the night away.
I loved this wedding; everything came together to make it such an awesomely enjoyable day to be part of and all the family and friends made me feel so welcome. It was an amazing pleasure to be asked to document Hayley and Tom’s big day and I had such a blast the whole time!
