I had eagerly anticipated Racheal & James' Oak Barn wedding for a long time. Firstly because these two are such a lovely couple and secondly because The Oak Barn is an incredible venue that I absolutely love. My first experience of The Oak Barn was when Heidi & I were looking at venues for our own wedding; unfortunately, it was a little too small for our celebration but from then on I have always wanted to shoot a wedding there.
The morning started for me at The Oak Barn, where I was photographing the girls getting ready. My assistant began their day with the guys in Exeter. It was a wonderfully relaxed morning for Racheal and the girls, as well as James and the guys. The Oak Barn has such a beautiful room in the Linhay for bridal preparations, with space for both the hair and make-up artists and plenty of room for Racheal and her bridesmaids to relax too.
Racheal & James had their ceremony set out quite uniquely at The Oak Barn. They stood up on the balcony with the guests down below, looking up towards them. Their daughter was a flower girl and joined them up on the balcony which made for some beautiful photos of the three of them.
After the ceremony, the guests joined the couple outside for drinks and canapés. The weather was fair which allowed the guests to enjoy the beautiful location that The Oak Barn is set in.
The evening reception was fun filled with a great atmosphere. The Oak Barn looks dramatic at night and guests could enjoy the live music, the more chilled bar area, or head on outside into the evening air.
Photographing Racheal & James' wedding was a real joy for us; it was great to be back at The Oak Barn and we couldn't have wished for lovelier Bride & Groom, or guests.
