Chrissy and Paul’s wedding took place at the stunning Dartington Hall, Devon, it is a very grand venue with incredible grounds and an amazing Great Hall. The weather was beautiful all day with blue skies and sun creating some real warmth, even in early May.
The morning started off in one of Dartington Halls suites, where Chrissy, her daughter and granddaughters were getting ready. It was a lovely calm morning; with just family members present at that time. The suite at Dartington Hall was lovely and spacious, with plenty of room to capture those details and intimate moments without me interfering.
I love photographing bridal preparations and this was no exception, with a super relaxed atmosphere and only the girls of the family there it was an absolute pleasure to encapsulate the beautiful moments as they happened.
The great thing with having a wedding in it's entirety at one venue, is that there is no time lost to travelling around. For a photographer this offers the opportunity to go between the bridal preparations and all the other rooms that will be used throughout the day, before any guests arrive.
I think it’s so important to document all of the details; for instance the decorations that have been meticulously planned for months and often prepared and made by hand.
Chrissy & Paul had a beautiful outside wedding ceremony which was full of smiles and laughter. Photographing an outside wedding ceremony at Dartington Hall is amazing as there’s beautiful scenery everywhere you look. With Chrissy & Paul positioned where they were they could see all their guests as they said their marriage vows.
After the ceremony the guests enjoyed drinks & canapés throughout the gardens, this gave Chrissy & Paul plenty of time to talk to their guests, many of whom were desperate to congratulate them. The grounds at Dartington Hall allowed the children at the wedding to thoroughly enjoy themselves, enabling me to capture some great moments as they played.
A short time was spent taking a number of formal group photographs before guests went into the hall to take their seats for the wedding breakfast. Chrissy, Paul and myself used this time to capture some lovely couples portraits and gave them a few moments to themselves, before they joined their guests once again.
After the wedding breakfast there were speeches to be made with smiles and laughter throughout, as well as some beautiful toasts to loved ones. With speeches over it was time to once again enjoy the glorious weather whilst preparations were made for the evening reception.
The lovely weather meant that guests could make the most of all that Dartington Hall has to offer as a wedding venue.
Once the first dance had concluded and the band were in full swing I left Chrissy, Paul and their guests to enjoy the evening in the capable hands of the awesome local band Riviera Dogs, playing them into the night.
Chrissy & Paul's Dartington Hall wedding was an outstandingly beautiful day, with an atmosphere of love permeating every passing moment. It was truly a privilege to be a part of it; documenting all the amazing moments that happened that day.
